Huge seal sunning himself

Ketchikan, Alaska

In 1978, over 2 million acres within the Tongass National Forest was designated as the Misty Fjords National Monument.  By granting Monument status to this unique wilderness, the ecological, cultural, geological, historical and scientific value of Misty Fjords will be protected for generations to come.

Things I never saw in Poughkeepsie

In the center of this picture is three large oystercatcher eggs

Here is the male oyster catcher trying to get our attention away from his eggs

Notice the very large long bright orange bill.

In the center of this picture the female is back on the nest.

To the right of the golf cart are three large alligators sunning themselves very close to the golf course green.
Spotting wildlife in the south by the ocean is very different from what I saw in Poughkeepsie, NY.

3D bowties

I made this table runner for a doll quilt exchange, instead of making it square I just lengthened it
and added a spring time border, my  swap partner and I decided this would be a nice change from all our little doll quilts.  I'm linking up with Amanda Jean on Finish it up Friday :0).  Happy Sewing, Kim

Can you see the 3D centers?

Morgan Library

Hi collection has many odd things like this casting.

The Morgan Library holds amazing things, Mr. Morgan liked to collect.  One of his passions was books, rare and valuable books.  In his collection are three Gutenberg Bibles....only 40 or so exist in the world, and 4 of them are in NYC the fourth is in the New York City Main Library.
silk
Silk wall covering in his private den with a picture of Pierpont Morgan over the mantel.

Then were rooms of cases with little trinkets like these.
We were told there is so much in his collection that most of it is in storage and is rotated several times a year.

If you get the chance to go I highly recommend it, to see the building alone is worth
the admission price.
