Rainy day Sea Turtle Watch

Rainy beach morning looking for sea turtle tracks indicating turtle nests. Females lay the eggs then leaves them buried in the sand  to hatch on their own 45 to 55 days later.

Solstice

Add caption
This is mostly Pat Sloan's Soltstice pattern, but I have also added orphan blocks from my failed attempt to making "Just takes 2" a 2010 by Brenda Papadakis and Gay Bomers sew along.  I think it is a nice combination of blocks.  Oh also the feathered star block is made from Marti Michell templates and not included in either sew along.

En Provence

Bonnie Hunter is tying up the loose ends of her annual mystery quilt " En Provence" with a linky party.  Go check out all the beauties that have been made!

Mine is still a work in progress, I added a center pink block to match the star points, I'll add a small blue border before it is finished.  I also added an extra row to make it large enough for a queen sized bed.

Thank you Bonnie for another Great Mystery :0),

And a good time was had by all!

low tide on the intracoastal

  •  Horse shoe crabs are not true crabs, and are more closely related to terrestrial spiders than blue crabs.
  • Often called "living fossils," horseshoe crabs have existed for more than 300 million years.
  • Although their spikes and spines may look dangerous, horseshoe crabs are harmless.
  • Just like other arthropods, horseshoe crabs must molt to grow. They leave their old shells behind and grow a new, larger shell.
