These pictures are just great to look at and honestly there is infinite variety. Also infinite inspiration. Has any one else been inspired to make a red and white quilt? Now, I wonder if I can make just one? Happy Sewing, Kim
I found this quilt very interesting. It is appliqued but has a secondary repeating pattern. Was it used as a fund raiser? Was it a signature quilt given to a fire chief as a gift? Doesn't it look like the fireman emblem?
I have decided to make this red and white quilt called "winding ways" I have ordered the fabric from Jackie at Canton Villiage Quilt Works some solid red Kona's called "Cardinal" and "Snow white". The Marti Michell templates are all set to go. Now all I have to do is make the time.
This embroidered Red Cross quilt was used as local fund raiser back in the day and has the name of my home town on it. I was thrilled to see a bit of local history.
Yes, right there Pokeytown!

I'm off to see the red and white quilt show in NYC "Infinite Variety : Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts".
I'll have pictures, if they allow them, later this week.
Can you believe these all belong to the same collection owned by Joanna S. Rose?
Until then you can enjoy some pictures on this flicker group.
