"Hortus" means garden and Haren is the name of the town where we visited this garden. This part of the garden is called the the hidden Empire of Ming, it recalls the period of the Ming Dynasty ( 1368-1644) and includes rocks, bridges, pagodas, hundreds of red carp and flowering plants, all brought to the Netherlands from China. We were simply amazed at the beauty of this place!

Just beautiful. I wondered what China was doing in the Nethlands *LOL* But from history I do remember that China was trading with the Vikings via sea very early in history. And there was intermarriage so this does make sense.
So pretty! I thought you had gone on another trip, these looked out of place for the Netherlands.
I used your visit there, and your bicycle photo for a lesson example in my class today! I was telling the Chinese kids to remember to share the little things that you marvel over in America as an example of things to write about. Some of them chose to tell of the classroom's electric pencil sharpener!
