Roll roll cotton Boll Step # 3
Step # 3 is coming along.
Bonnie has us pulling "neutral" fabric scraps from everywhere.....I've got shirts, pieces of quilt back trimmings, cut up uglies, and scraps from Debby Brown's sewing room.......Wheeeee what fun!
Now since I am making two RRCB I only have 120 of these 8.5 string blocks to make......okay back to my machine .

Make a house block and have a chance to win :0)
http://lovelaughquilt.blogspot.com/2010/11/friendly-neighborhood.html
Now doesn't this sound fun?
Make a 12 inch house block and win a chance to take home some of the blocks that get sent to "Love Laugh Quilt"? If you think so go check it out. If I win I think the blocks will make a perfect quilt to donate to the charity of my choice.

Christmas Quilt show 2010
Sew Cal Gal is having a Christmas Quilt show and I thought I would enter this quilt. It's called " Carolina Christmas" and was made from a Bonnie K. Hunter mystery. It measures 85 inches square.
It is machine quilted by Debby Brown.
You can go enter your own quilt or go enjoy the other quilts displayed.

Works in Progress
It is fun to see what can be made from just sewing strips of fabric and even selvedges together. These two projects are on my sewing table at the same time while I'm waiting to start Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt "roll roll cotton boll" later this month.

Inspiration from the "Silly boodilly"
http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.com/2010/09/having-fun.html
Victoria over at the Sillboodilly" is so talented, I look at her blog a few times a week and
see all the wonderful things she has made. Some of her recent work has really caught my eye
and I decided I would take her inspiration and make a gift for my girlfriend. Here is what I made
art pieces from her etsy shop. Happy Sewing.

Kaffe inspired
I am a huge fan of Kaffe Fassett's quilts, designs and fabrics, this is one of his patterns without using his fabrics, instead it is made from old shirts and stripped fabrics from my stash, and it is finally finished. It is beautifully machine quilted by Debby Brown. Happy Sewing.

"Amish Abstraction"
Hand quilting is not my thing and I'm not very good at it....... but look I finished quilting this quilt that is a 36 inch square! I can't tell you how many hours I put into this quilt........geese and its so small! In any event I now have to bind it and can't decide what color to use. Black? Lime? or turquoise? What do You think?
This was made for an online challenge using the book "Amish Abstractions : Quilts from the collection of Faith and Stephen Brown".

selvedge doll quilt
Ive been doing mostly hand quilting and hand sewing bindings down since I've come home from vacation so not much to share , but I did make this last week and backed it with flannel. I think it will make a sweet little birthday gift for Lily as she turns two on her big day in August.

Shopping on Sunday in Amsterdam
We were surprised by the number of people that came into town for the weekend.......
everyone was excited about the Netherlands doing so well in the world cup.......and they nearly won!
Lots of orange everywhere and soccer balls hanging over the streets.

Sunday in Amsterdam
Yes all three kids got into the cart on the front of the bike and off Mom rode with a smile on her face :0).
This is the Rijksmuseum....home to Vermeers, Rembrandts,
and many other master dutch painters........simply amazing.
Even with a major restoration underway there was a display of the best of its permanent collection. This museum was founded by Louis Napoleon, the bother of Napoleon Bonaparte, in 1801. The present building was constructed between 1876 and 1885 in a style combining both neo-Gothic and neo-Renassance features.....its just beautiful.
