Christmas gifts getting done

Orca Bay

I'm so happy I finished these two quilts in time for Christmas gift giving.  Bonnie Hunter's 2010 mystery quilt makes quite a nice size quilt, it is called "Roll Roll Cotton Boll".  I'm working on this years mystery too call "Orca Bay", are you?   Just hit the link above and find out all about it :0).                                              Happy Sewing,
The beautiful quilting is done by Debby Brown.

BOM bloggers

This block reminds me of a color blind test.

Are you following along with the bloggers BOM?  This months block is really fun but I did not use enough contrast.
Should I make another or just leave well enough alone?  Happy Sewing,

Visiting Nifty in Seattle

Yo-yo's from Nifty!

A whole big bag full...hundreds and hundreds!

Orphan blocks just being arranged into a Christmas quilt.
Look at these beautiful yo-yo's Nifty gave me!  Yes, she said "take them away I don't want them anymore"!
I was thrilled with the gift and have a few ideas in mind for them.

When I go on business trips with my DH I love to go and look at the sights, take lots of pictures and enjoy a new city.

I really enjoyed Seattle but I have to say my time with Nifty was really the highlight of the trip! Go see her quilt top all pieced at .Nifty's blog :0).

peppermint candies quilt

One block done after joining 8 sections
ironing seams open after removing paper
I have a love / hate relationship with paper piecing.  First I love the accuracy with paper piecing but I hate  the  mess of removing the paper.
This block came together perfectly, look how those seams come together to form the peppermint candy....yeah I love that part!

I'll show the whole quilt after it is released by Quiltmaker mag., this pattern was shown in the  Oct. /Nov. issue but did not look anything like this. :0)  Happy Sewing, Kim

Beth's rag doll tutorial

Beth had the cutest rag doll on her blog,
then I got lucky because she did a super easy to follow
tutorial.  I just had to make one and in my rush I stuffed her with
left over cotton batting instead of polyfil so she is a bit lumpy.
I don't think it will matter because she will be sitting in the crib of a newborn.
Now, my doll has to wait for her baby to be born next month :0).

My dress is made from leftover fabric used to cover the bulletin board in the baby's room.
