ho ho ho

Everyone of these Santa's are handmade by my sister, some are wood cut outs done by her husband then  hand painted,
 the large one on the right is sewn, stuffed  with a painted face.  I think they make a lovely vignette on top of my hutch.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas even though it is in the 70's here today :0)

Sew alongs

.
This is a 8 inch square that will become part of a large quilt in the Temecula Quilt Co. sew along
called count down to Christmas.
Well I did finish this one block, but not a whole quilt, I don't think Amanda Jean will mind if I share it over at Finish it up Friday.

Bonnie Hunter has started her annual holiday sew along, it is called Celtic Solstice but mine will be call Christmas solstice since I will use Christmas colors, still debating if it will be King sized or not :0).
Bonnie is having a linky party so everyone can see what has been done on clue one so far
There are some real fast sewers out there......I am amazed at how much sewing got done over the weekend!  Go have a look :0)

Beth over at" love laugh quilt" is having her annual neighbor gathering, make a house and join the fun :0),
plus make an extra one for charity and Beth will make them into quilts!
I still have some Fall color in the yard.

Plus some blooming camellias!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Blogger's Quilt Festival

I decided to enter Amy's Blogger Festival over at Amy's Creative side blog, are you gonna enter too?

I made this adorable little yo yo quilt that is a 7 inch square, it has 100 yo yo's!
I saw the pattern in Miniature Magazine and it was called the 51 cent quilt because
you start with the template that is the size of a 50 cent piece and end up with a yo yo the size
of a penny.  I made it in Christmas fabrics so I could put it on my Christmas tree
with a little teddy bear holding it.

Happy Sewing, Kim

The beginning of the block on the Lori's sew along.  I used this brown plaid as a border since it was lying on
my sew table from the Halloween quilt I just sent to my granddaughter.

Happy 1st day of October

It can either be a table runner or a bed scarf for Lily's bed.
I took a Halloween charm pack and cut the 5 inch squares into quarters, this turned out larger than I first imagined
but I think it is still fun.

the top of the B says " Happy Halloween Lily"  and the bottom has a spider, on the outside edge
I wrote" Love Grandma"

This letter O has a spider tangling from a spider string

This O has a web and a spider coming down to the web.
In the mail it goes this afternoon :0)

Happy Sewing, Kim
Lily received her bear and runner and is sleeping with the Boo runner :0)
I'm linking up with Amanda Jean's finish it up Friday because not only did I get this done
I got it mailed in time!

Lily's tooth bear

Lily has started kindergarten so it will not be to long before her little teeth
start falling out.  I saw this on Martha Stewart's web site and thought it
would be the perfect little tooth bear for my granddaughter :0).
I did not finish a quilt this week but I'll post Lily's bear, before he gets mailed,
over at finish it up Friday with Amanda Jean.

The little tooth goes in the pocket and the tooth fairy replaces it with dollar bills :0).

Happy Sewing,
Kim

Brookgreen Gardens 9-18-13

Trees

  by Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark located just south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C..
These magnificent  trees are hundreds of years old, this year they are underplanted with thousands of caladiums.  The gardens moto is " Ever changing. Simply amazing."

Happy First Day of Autumn, Kim.
Caladium of every kind along side of a beautiful woven fence to cover an irrigation pump.

Beautiful!

Orphan block table runner

Cherrywood hand dyed fabrics with wonky stars made at a Gwen Marston retreat.

I kept over lapping the star arms on my first attempt at wonky.
I've got to practice my free motion quilting so I can do something besides this wave line :0)
This little table runner is off to a doll swap partner after we agreed to a runner instead of a doll quilt.

I'm going to link up with Amanda Jean, you should drop by and see all the amazing finishes on her blog :0) on Finish it up Fridays!
Happy Sewing,
Kim
